About The College Arms

Discover The College Arms, a classic British pub and dining spot located at 18 Store St, London WC1E 7DH, United Kingdom, right in the heart of central London’s lively academic and cultural district. As a food blogger exploring The College Arms in London, I’m excited to share how this traditional venue blends historic pub charm with a relaxed modern dining experience, making it a reliable stop for both locals and visitors searching for authentic local dining experiences and some of the best restaurants in London for casual comfort food. With a welcoming atmosphere, accessible pricing, and a laid-back setting, it stands out as a dependable choice for anyone exploring the Bloomsbury area.

The College Arms offers a classic British pub menu with a focus on hearty, satisfying dishes and a strong selection of drinks. The food is straightforward yet well-executed, featuring popular staples such as beer-battered fish and chips with crispy golden coating and fluffy chips, a juicy beef burger served with fresh salad and soft brioche buns, and a traditional Sunday roast that includes tender roasted meats, seasonal vegetables, and rich gravy. Seasonal pies and vegetarian options also appear on the menu, catering to a wide range of preferences. Prices are generally mid-range for central London, making it an accessible option for students, professionals, and tourists alike. The bar complements the food with craft beers, ales, wines, and classic pub cocktails, adding to its appeal as a social gathering place.

Customer feedback often highlights the pub’s relaxed vibe and friendly service, with many guests appreciating the generous portion sizes and value for money. Some visitors mention it as a “comfortable, no-fuss pub with good food and atmosphere,” reflecting its role as a dependable neighborhood spot rather than a fine-dining destination. The interior embraces a traditional British pub aesthetic, featuring wooden furnishings, warm lighting, and a spacious layout that accommodates both quiet meals and lively group gatherings. There is also casual seating ideal for watching sports or enjoying drinks with friends, contributing to its energetic yet comfortable environment.

The College Arms also includes thoughtful touches such as outdoor seating for warmer days and a welcoming attitude toward casual drop-ins, making it suitable for both quick lunches and longer evening visits. The pub atmosphere is further enhanced by its laid-back service style and community feel, giving it a sense of familiarity in a busy city center. While not overly polished or modern in design, its charm lies in its authenticity and unpretentious character.

For anyone seeking a genuine British pub experience, The College Arms delivers a balanced combination of comfort food, relaxed ambiance, and central London convenience. Whether you’re exploring nearby attractions or simply looking for a satisfying meal and drink, The College Arms remains a solid recommendation among local dining experiences. If you find yourself in the area, it’s well worth a visit for a casual, welcoming taste of classic London pub culture.

"Used to come here when it was the university tavern years ago; it was our go to place to watch the rugby. So, it was a walk down memory lane to come back here after so many years and watch the rugby. It's changed quite a bit but for the better. The seating is done well and there are plenty of TVs. We didn't realise that the food was Indian though but it was unusual and the food was actually pretty good. A good bottle of wine for £31.50 meant it was overall a good value pub."
